Intense, persistent tooth pain is one of the most common dental emergencies — and one of the most important to address quickly. Pain that doesn't resolve on its own often signals an infection, abscess, or nerve involvement that will worsen without treatment. Call us right away; do not wait it out.

A broken or cracked tooth can range from a minor chip to a fracture that exposes the nerve. Even if you're not in severe pain, a cracked tooth is vulnerable to further damage and infection. Rinse with warm water, apply a cold compress if there's swelling, and call us as soon as possible.

A knocked-out (avulsed) tooth is a true time-sensitive emergency. The faster you act, the better the chance of saving the tooth. Handle it by the crown only — never the root. Rinse gently without scrubbing, keep it moist (in milk, saline, or between your cheek and gum), and call us immediately. Time is critical.

Losing a crown or filling exposes the underlying tooth structure to bacteria, temperature sensitivity, and further damage. While not always painful right away, it should be treated promptly. If you have the crown, keep it — we may be able to re-cement it. Avoid chewing on that side until you're seen.
